DAIRY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

We are operating three emergency Veterinary Unit in our Union and covering 234 Societies in both Districts. We are supplying Frozen Semen Straws at Rs.12/- per straw at the subsidy rates.

We are also providing first aid training to the Village Level Workers and Secretaries in our Union areas.

F.M.D. VACCINATION PROGRAMME

Previously we have implemented FMD Vaccination Programme on tapering subsidy basis. Now we are operting this on cost basis by covering the animals in both Districts.

    1. FODDER DEVELOPMENT
    2. We are supplying fodder seeds and slips to the Producers to enable them to cultivate and fodder in their land. The Tamilnadu Government and Central Government are giving financial assistance in the form of seeds and slips.

    3. CATTLE FEED
    4. We are having one Cattle Feed Plant at Madhavaram Milk Colony with the production capacity of 100 M.Ts. per day. Now we are producing 400 M.Ts. per month and planning to increase the production shortly after improving our financial position. We are supplying balanced Cattle Feed to the Producers at Cheaper rate.

    5. BACKWARD CLASS AND MINORITIES
    6. We have received the Funds of Rs.22.80 lakes for the issue of Milch Animal loan for the 100 Backward Class Members of our Milk Producers Co-operative Society for the Purchase of two milch animals for the each Member by the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes and Minorities Economic Development Co-operation for the year 1998-99. The Unit Cost per animal is Rs.12000/- with regard to this Scheme there is no subsidy on other hand the rate of interest is less when compared to other Bank loans. The interest is charged at the rate of 7% for those whose Annual Income is upto Rs.11,000/- and if the Annual Income exceeds above 11,000/- but below Rs.22,000/- the rate of interest will be 10%. Now we have issued Milch Animal Loan for 100 members. Animals have been purchased and are milking in concerned eight Societies.

      For the year 1999-2000 union has received funds of Rs 57 lakh for the 200 Beneficiaries with the Financial Assistance from Tamil Nadu Backward class and Minorities Economic Development Corporation. The unit cost per animal is Rs. 14250/- and the rate of intrest 7% per annum.

    7. CALF REARING SCHEME

Calf Rearing Scheme is implemented by the Central Government Special Assistance Funds (TAHDCO) through the milk Producers Unions. Cross Breed Heifer are included for the Scheme from the TAHDCO milch animal loan calves. The Calves are selected from the age group of from 4 months upto 10 months. The scheme is providing 100% subsidy which is the supply of feed to the Schemed calves from 4 months to 32 months. The Calves will be insured and are taken care of by our Assistant Manager (Veterinary) periodically. The total cost for rearing the calf is Rs.10680/-

  • Total feed cost from 4 months to 32 months Rs.10400.00
  • Total feed to be supplied Rs.1740
  • Towards Insurance Rs.144.00
  • Towards the Health Coverage Rs.100.00

INTEGRAL RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME:

The Government of Tamilnadu have sanctioned a sum of Rs.6.08 lakhes during 1993-94 for the purchase of

  • Cream Separator
  • Cryo Cans

The Cream Separator has been positioned at Kakkalur and Cryo Cans have been supplied to the Village Dairy Co-op. Societies for the benefit of I.R.D.P. benificiaries in Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur Districts.

Under Part II scheme this union has received following infrastructure 100% and 50% grant for the assistance to Dairy Coop. Societies as listed below.

Motto of this union is to encourage Farmer Producers’ by giving Remunerative Price for their milk, based on quality. And improving Dairy Farm activities through Scientific innovation. On Consumers side, supplying good quality milk and timely supply to the consumers of Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur Districts.
